The second theme from the
summer scrapbook program at my school is about dreams... What do Vietnamese children want to be when they grow up? Impressively, out of 17 students who did the scrapbook, a whopping 9 of them want to become doctors. The rest of the children want to be a pilot, badminton player, teacher, painter, accountant, chef, famous singer... And of course, there's the one child who wants to be just every average kid's dream job: an innovator! Minh Anh's idols are Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, and why does she want to be an innovator like them? Well of course, to help make life better!
I love reading the kids' scrapbooks because not only is it a portal for the kids to express themselves to the world, but it provides great insight on how kids understand the world around them. By looking closely at their illustrations, you can have an idea of how they conceptualize things and how they depict things, and how they place value on different aspects of society.

We must not forget to label "Push" on the entrance door! How else will patients know how to get in? |
At the parking lot of the hospitals, remember, you must "Get off your bike and push it"! There are children and sick people on the premises! |
This pilot is sure sporting all of his hard-earned medals! |

Here is her graph depicting the idea of life becoming better, and here is an example of modern technology |
Not bad depictions of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, right? |
Here is an example of how advanced technology can help in our lives |
Here is Minh Anh as an innovator! Great scientists! |
She will not be scared... |
She'll be confident... |
It's funny (and mature!) how she already imagines other students blocking their ears while she blabs away in her presentations |
